I turned up the temperature for a room but the heating didn’t come on - why?

The Thermostatic Radiator Valves (TRVs) are designed to save energy by controlling the heating in infrequently used rooms at a lower temperature than the rest of the home.

If the average temperature in the entire house is already the one you have set on your thermostat, your boiler will not turn on even if you want to heat another room, as only the thermostat has access to the boiler.
